Violent Femmes @ Corner Hotel, Melbourne 17-Mar-2016
American alternative rock band Violent Femmes played a sold-out show at the Corner Hotel in Richmond on St. Patrick's Day, Thursday 17 March 2016, as a Golden Plains festival sideshow. Singer-guitarist Gordon Gano and bassist Brian Ritchie, along with new drummer John Sparrow, the multi-instrumentalist Jeff Hamilton, and their brass section the “Horns of Dilemma”, played songs from their latest album We Can Do Anything released earlier this month – their first studio album in sixteen years. Hailing from Milwaukee, WI but half residing in Tasmania, the band thrilled the 800-capacity crowd with many of their classics from the ‘80s like Blister in the Sun, Gone Daddy Gone, Kiss Off, Gimme the Car, and American Music.
