The Undertones @ Corner Hotel, Melbourne 14-Jul-2017
Legendary first wave Irish punks The Undertones played The Corner hotel in Melbourne on Friday 14 July 2017 as part of their first-ever tour of Australia. Formed whilst teenagers in Derry, Ireland in 1975, they achieved seven top 40 UK singles and three top 20 UK albums between 1978 and 1981, while their debut 7" Teenage Kicks was influential English DJ John Peel's favourite single of all time. The Undertones are brothers John O'Neill (That Petrol Emotion) on rhythm guitar and Damian O'Neill (That Petrol Emotion) on lead guitar, along with Michael Bradley on bass, Billy Doherty on drums, and Paul McLoone on lead vocals, who replaced original singer Fearal Sharkey when the original members reformed in 1999. The Undertones remain the most successful band to have emerged from Derry, and one of the most successful bands from Northern Ireland.
