The Living End @ MCG, Melbourne 1-Oct-2016
Hometown rockers The Living End played the Virgin Australia Premiership Party in the middle of the MCG on Saturday 1 October 2016, as post-match celebrations following a victory by the Western Bulldogs in the AFL Grand Final to break their 62-year premiership drought. Led by Chis Cheney on guitar and lead vocals, with Scott Owen on double bass – their parents both born in Footscray – and Andy Strachan on drums, the band played an energetic set of hits to the stadium crowd that closed with West End Riot in tribute to this year’s Australian football premiers from the western suburbs of Melbourne. Since forming in 1994, the much-loved band has now sold over a million albums and been nominated for 25 ARIA Awards.
