Stompin' Riffraffs @ Night Cat, Melbourne 8-Nov-2018
Japan's wildest rock'n'roll band Stompin' Riffraffs played Melbourne's Night Cat venue on Thursday 8 November 2018, for their first-ever performance in Australia. The show commenced the underground garage rockers' Kick Australia's Ass Tour, and they treated the audience with their fuzz-soaked late-'50s sound throughout their set of original songs, complete with go-go dancers. Formed in Tokyo during 2006, the Stompin' Riffraffs are fronted by their man Nao on guitar and vocals, along with three chicks: Miku on keyboard and theremin, Saori on drums, and Rie on bass (who is the only one that's not siblings). Combining all the elements of the golden age of ferocious rock and roll, along with outer-space sounds from a squealing Theramin, Stompin' Riffraffs has regularly toured around their native Japan, while still finding time to play numerous times in the USA, plus UK and France.
