Reclink Community Cup @ Victoria Park, Melbourne 19-Jun-2022

The Melbourne Reclink Community Cup is the much-adored annual charity football match that has pitted musicians against media industry staff since 1993. Returning after a two-year absence, the 2022 cup was a head-to-head contest between the victorious community radio giants, the mighty Megahertz (Triple R 102.7FM & PBS 106.7FM), and the ruthless Young & Jackson Rockdogs. The event took place in front of a 12,000-strong crowd on Sunday 19 June 2022 at Victoria Park in Abbotsford with the theme of "Let Love Rule" - in honour of distinguished Gunditjmara/Bundjalung singer-songwriter Archie Roach AM and his extraordinary and enduring musical and charitable contributions over the decades. (The title is from his seventh studio album and song of the same name.) The Community Cup event raises awareness and funds for Australia’s most disadvantaged, with Reclink Australia’s structured sport and recreation programs helping to improve life outcomes for those experiencing mental illness, family violence, homelessness, social isolation, gambling harm, unemployment, and drug and alcohol rehabilitation.
