Nuclear Assault @ Max Watt’s, Melbourne 22-Feb-2017
New York City thrash metal icons Nuclear Assault played Melbourne’s Max Watt’s on Wednesday 22 February 2017 on their first and last tour of Australia that celebrates their 30-year legacy. The heavy metal band formed after bassist Dan Lilker left Anthrax in 1984 and then toured relentlessly over the next ten years before splitting. They reunited in 2002 and have released six studio albums over the years, with album sales pushing close to the million-units mark. Their lineup consists of founding members John Connelly on guitar and lead vocals and Dan Lilker (Anthrax, Stormtroopers of Death [S.O.D.], Brutal Truth) on bass, Erik Burke (Brutal Truth, Legacy) on guitar, with the best extreme drummer in the business, Nick Barker (Cradle Of Filth, Testament, Dimmu Borgir). Melbourne thrashers enjoyed their set of 20 songs that are built on the band’s “impeccable, precision thrash riffs and undeniable, authentic hardcore cred, combined with biting social commentary and an irreverent sense of humour.”
