Grinspoon @ Margaret Court Arena, Melbourne 30-Jun-2017
Post-grunge Aussie rockers Grinspoon played at Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne on Friday 30 June 2017, as part of their 20 Years of Better Living national tour of Australia. The band formed in Lismore, New South Wales during 1995 and were the first winner of the inaugural Triple J-sponsored Unearthed competition. Their debut album achieved double-platinum status on the back of five singles, and spent 36 weeks in the ARIA Top 50. Followed by another six albums, Grinspoon went on to sell well-over half a million copies, before they eventually went on an indefinite hiatus in 2013 to pursue individual projects. Now reformed and celebrating the 20th Anniversary of their debut album – with a deluxe edition that includes additional songs Live at CBGB's in New York from 1997 – the ARIA Award winners are Phil Jamieson on vocals and guitar, Pat Davern on guitar, Joe Hansen on bass, and Kristian Hopes on drums. Grinners entertained the packed crowd by playing their debut album cover to cover, along with a selection of hits and favourites from their other albums.
