Alcatrazz @ Corner Hotel, Melbourne 7-Jun-2019
Alcatrazz with Graham Bonnet, "The James Dean of Heavy Metal", performed Rainbow's album Down To Earth in its entirety at the Corner Hotel in Melbourne on Friday 7 June 2019. Released 40 years ago, Down to Earth was the fourth studio album by British hard rockers Rainbow, their only album with Graham Bonnet on vocals after Ritchie Blackmore chose him to replace Ronnie James Dio. The 2019 version of Alcatrazz includes 71-year-old Bonnet and original keyboardist Jimmy Waldo, along with Beth-Ami Heavenstone (Hardly Dangerous) on bass, Mark Benquechea on drums, and lead guitarist Joe Stump. The band rounded out their two-hour performance by playing classics from Bonnet's time with Michael Schenker Group, Impelliteri, Blackthorne, and Marbles, along with his classic '70's hits Warm Ride, and It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue.
