Gene Simmons @ Festival Hall, Melbourne 30-Aug-2018
Touring Australia for the very first time as a solo artist, legendary Kiss bassist and singer Gene Simmons played Melbourne's Festival Hall on Thursday 30 August 2018. The tour coincides with the 40th anniversary of the release of all 4 Kiss band members' solo albums. Having sold more than 100 million albums worldwide with Kiss, Gene has written and performed some of the most well-known anthems in the history of music. His tongue-wagging and fire-breathing onstage antics and distinguishable Demon makeup have often overshadowed his grossly underrated musicianship. Gene's touring band is Jeremy Asbrock (John Corabi band, The Shazam, Kaato) on guitar, Ryan Cook (Hair of the Dog, Skid Row) on guitar, Phil Shouse (John Corabi band, Rodney Atkins, Kaato) on guitar, and Christopher Williams (Accept, Rex Brown band, Blackfoot, Kaato) on drums. Australian theatre singer Amy Lehpamer joined the band for a version of I Was Made For Loving You, while Ace Frehley joined his former Kiss band member on stage for the final songs of the evening, much to the crowd's delight.
