Eagles of Death Metal @ The Croxton, Melbourne 25-Mar-2016
California-based rockers Eagles of Death Metal played a sold-out concert at The Croxton in the Melbourne suburb of Thornbury on Good Friday 25 March 2016. Led by their enigmatic frontman – singer-songwriter-guitarist Jesse Hughes AKA The Devil, Boots Electric – the night’s touring band also comprised Dave Catching AKA: Darlin' Dave, Davey Jo (QOTSA, Mondo Generator) on guitar, Eden Galindo on guitar, Matt McJunkins (A Perfect Circle, Puscifer) on bass, and Jorma Vik (The Bronx) on drums. The band’s other permanent member, Joshua Homme, rarely performs live at EODM shows due to commitments with his other band Queens of the Stoneage. In support of their 2015 album Zipper Down, the Easter shows are the band’s first in Australia since terrorists stormed their Paris concert at Le Bataclan last November, killing 89 people including their merchandise manager, while the band members managed to get off stage and escape the venue via a backstage door. An ordained minister with the Universal Life Church, Jesse Hughes also features as one of the characters in my book Sex Tips From Rock Stars.
