Daryl Braithwaite @ CBD streets, Melbourne 24-Dec-2021
ARIA Hall of Fame singer Daryl Braithwaite performed a couple of 15-minute, pop-up shows on the streets of Melbourne on Friday 24 December 2021. The first Christmas Eve lunchtime set was outside the GPO on Bourke Street at Elizabeth Street, and the second was further up Bourke St outside Melbourne's coffeehouse institution, Pellegrini's Espresso Bar. The 72-year-old is one of Australia's most successful and popular singers, ever since his days fronting Sherbet. His sets consisted of classics from his solo career including As The Days Go By, Rise, One Summer, as well as the singalong, crowd-favourite hit The Horses. As part of the Victorian Government's On The Road Again program, the event concluded the pop-up busking surprises to revitalise the city in the wake of COVID-19 and to help make Melbourne the Christmas destination of the season.
