Baby Animals @ Forum Theatre, Melbourne 21-May-2016
Celebrating 25 years since the release of their iconic self-titled album that broke Australian music history records, Baby Animals reformed their original line-up for a special performance at Melbourne’s Forum Theatre on Saturday 21 May 2016. They warmed-up the near capacity (1,500) crowd with a set celebrating the past 25 years performed by the current line up of singer Suze DeMarchi, guitarist Dave Leslie, drummer Mick Skelton (Thirsty Merc, The Party Boys) and bassist Dario Bortolin (Jimmy Barnes, Dragon, Olivia Newton-John). The much-anticipated second set of their debut album was then performed in full by the classic original line up of Suze DeMarchi, Dave Leslie, Frank Celenza on drums and Eddie Parise on bass. Their breakthrough album in 1991 spent 6 weeks at #1 in Australia (keeping Nirvana’s Nevermind out of the top spot), spawned 4 x Top 50 singles, won multiple ARIA Awards, achieved multi-platinum sales in Australia and in excess of 1 million album sales worldwide. It was the highest selling Australian debut album ever, until Jet released Get Born twelve years later. Baby Animals have also released a 25th anniversary deluxe package of their debut album with lots of rare and live treats.
