Avantasia @ Forum Theatre, Melbourne 14-May-2019
Avantasia, the German supergroup metal opera project created by Tobias Sammet, performed in Melbourne's Forum Theatre on Tuesday 14 May 2019, as one of only two Australian stops on the Moonglow World Tour. The band members supporting 41-year-old singer Tobias Sammet (Edguy) on stage were guitarists Sascha Paeth (Heavens Gate) and Oliver Hartmann, bassist Andre Neygenfind, drummer Felix Bohnke (Edguy), keyboardist Michael "Miro" Rodenberg, along with backing singers Adrienne Cowan and Herbie Langhans. The once in a lifetime stage show included a full cast featuring singers: Ronnie Atkins (Pretty Maids), Jørn Lande (Masterplan), Geoff Tate (Queensrÿche), Eric Martin (Mr. Big), and Bob Catley (Magnum). Released this February, Moonglow is the eighth full-length album by Avantasia since 1999, and again features extensive collaborations with returning and new guest vocalists. The album went to #1 on the German charts, further proving Avantasia is one of the world's biggest names in operatic metal.
