Amyl and the Sniffers @ Globe Alley, Melbourne 31-Dec-2019
Aussie pub rock and punk band Amyl and the Sniffers performed a special intimate New Year's Eve concert at Globe Alley in Melbourne on 31 December 2019. Following the sudden cancellation of the Lorne leg of the Falls Music and Arts Festival due to the threat of Australian bushfires, a benefit gig was pulled together with all proceeds going to the Victorian Country Fire Authority. The night capped a brilliant year for the band in which their debut, self-titled record released in May won Best Rock Album at the 2019 ARIA Music Awards. Formed in the Melbourne suburb of Balaclava during 2016, Amyl and the Sniffers are led by vocalist Amy Taylor, along with Bryce Wilson on drums, Dec Martins on guitar, and Gus Romer on bass. Front-woman Amy Taylor has been quoted in press for currently being "one of hardest rocking people on the face of the planet."
